What is love without reason?
Emotion without fact?
What is relevent in treason?
What is subtle in a raging attack?
How can two things be the same
When neither one is the other?
Can we blindly feed this game
Until hope has smothered?
How many times will I trip you
Before you insist on the fall?
How can I measure the world true
If I have no love at all?
Would you keep all the lies
over heartache?
Would you defane every truth?
Simply to keep from departing
a symbol of vacant misuse?
Could I touch you if skies were fire?
Could I hold you so still in my arms
And deny that I know you're a liar
that you've always meant me harm?
Could I
Would I
I'll never know
For love seems to have no reason
It's a treachery meant to destroy
It certainly provokes all in treason
Chokes from life all the joy
For love cannot be selfish
these two things are not the same
and feeding myself is the penance for
keeping my heart in this game
When I trip you the question breathes,
intentions over action?
when will you relinquish the need
for such a brutal distraction?
Oh how the skies are not made of fire
I keep you from my arms
I acknowledge that you are a liar
and do not give myself to your harm
How many times must I miss you
before I insist that you're dead?
How can I measure the world true
If this love is all in my head?

Yes, your account of denial is very clear eyed, and paints a picture of the manner in which love can make one prosapagnostic to hard truth. I 'm reminded of the shakespearian sonnet that ends:
"All the world knows, but none knows well,
to shun thy heaven that leadeth to thy hell" .
Original, and thought provoking.
you're welcome,
black. |
