The smoke rolls around in my mouth like our memories in my mind
And I’m so afraid of running out of chances.
Pit….Pat….Pit
The sounds of my footsteps hitting the pavement echo through these awkward silences.
Funny how it seems every word spit is another stabbing lie.
We rip our hearts to shreds in these violent verbal brawls.
With pointing fingers and accusing glances
These wars with words rage on,
And still the question remains:
Who will win?
Tonight I am haunted by my guilt
As our egos clash and this knife known as pride severs our ties.
Somewhere amongst the turmoil we switched to survival mode.
Just believe me when I say I can’t let go.
Though I’m certain now your heart is what I cannot fix,
The truth lies behind the anger and the pride:
I need you.
Tonight.
