so alone in such a crowded room
faces every where, painted with gloom
black is the color that surrounds me
it's where i go, it's what i see
and amoungst all this, something is wrong
i've been here for so very long
trapped in here, the door locked tight
a memory holding on with all of it's might
and everyday is one day farther
but everyday is one day harder
i cannot seem to let you go
i want to and i need to i know
but that memory holds on tight to my heart
and it just wont let me part
the flowers seem just as dead as you
and since then the sky isnt blue
forever i will stay here in this chair
being held down by the weight of the air
i'll listen to the preacher day after day
though never really hearing what he has to say
i see them close the lid
not just once, but again and again
i will walk over to whisper goodbye
every second inside my mind
i'll tell you i'm sorry and i'll drop a few tears
i'll pray that somehow you can hear
i will stay locked in this place
with the dimming lights and that look on your face
i will live my life and my body will move on
but my mind stays there, while my soul is gone

How very much I relate to this poem,
this feeling you have written about so profoundly.
Time stopped for me in 1996 when my Mom died
and its been so hard to pull myself forward from there.
But we both know we have to move forward, or time will
stretch us beyond our ability to reach (in either direction).
I love the feel and tone of your poem. Good work!
