Then There Was You

Topic: SongLyrics

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My eighth post was an attempt to write something I could hear Meatloaf singing
I tried again here, one hundred and eighty two posts later. Thank you, Tanya.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I have never felt this way before
Never held onto a dream ... quite like this
I never wanted oh, so much
To feel another’s touch
Or lose myself within their kiss ~

And I never lost my self control
Never surrendered everything I know
God, I thought somehow I knew
Everything that love could do
But I was so far from the truth ~

Because then there was you
Oh, then there was you

And you came from out of nowhere
Like a full moon through the clouds
Like a sunny summer day just when
The rain starts pourin’ down
With a voice that cut through silence
Though you never spoke at all
And the words you didn’t say
Were just enough to break resolve

And now everything I ever
Thought I knew about this game
Has crumbled to the ground
Nothing will ever be same
You gave me all your reasons
And left reasonable doubt
To think I thought I knew somehow
The way that love turns out

And I have never felt this way before
I never held onto a dream ... quite like this
I never wanted oh, so much
To feel another’s touch
Or lose myself within their kiss ~

And I never lost my self control
Never surrendered everything I know
God, I thought that I had seen
Everything that love could be
And I had all I’d ever need ~

Until you came to me
Then you came to me

And so now I know for certain
What the poets speak about
They say that when it comes to love
There isn’t any room for doubt
And you shouldn’t speak it lightly
For it’s more than just a word
And it truly means the most
When it is felt before it’s heard

And I have never felt this way before
Never opened all of my closed doors
I don’t know how this story goes
Or felt so nervously exposed
But now I finally know the truth
And it’s all because of you

All because of you
Because of you
You

I’ve never felt this way before
( never wanted someone more )
I’ve never lost my self control
( I can feel you taking hold )
I’ve never felt this way before
( never wanted someone more )
I’ve never lost my self control
( I can feel you taking hold )

I thought somehow I knew
Everything that love could do
And I thought that I had seen
Everything that love could be

And I have never felt this way before
I never held onto a dream ... quite like this
I never wanted oh, so much
To feel another’s touch
Or lose myself within their kiss ~

And I never lost my self control
Never surrendered everything I know
God, I thought somehow I knew
Everything that love could do
But I was so far from the truth ~

Because then there was you
Oh, then there was you

Then there was you
Then there was you
Then there was …

You ~

*applauds madly*

holy heck snazzy!!! This is bloody brilliant!! I really want to hear this
sung! Good grief! You had better get a hold of Steinman and I mean
right QUICK!

This was astounding! I could even go so far as to say, this is
your best lyrical piece thus far. Brilliant, man.

Naz,

Brovo! I loved the song, you certainly do sound like you were inspired. Music and poetry, quite a talent pool!

Great song
