A FRIEND LIKE YOU - TO JOEL

SOME FRIENDS WE GO LOOKING FOR
SOME FRIENDS WE HAVE HAD FOREVER
SOME STAY DEEP IN OUR HEARTS FOR LIFE
WITH SOME THE BONDS WE SEVER

I HAVE MANY FRIENDS IN MY LIFE
SOME OLD AND SOME QUITE NEW
BUT I HAVE NEVER FELT SUCH A CONNECTION
AS I HAVE JUST FOUND WITH YOU

I THINK PERHAPS YOU WERE SENT ME
AS A FAVOUR FROM ABOVE
PERHAPS GOD CHOSE TO HELP ME THROUGH
BY SENDING YOUR FRIENDSHIP AND LOVE

I KNEW WE WERE KINDRED SPIRITS
THE MOMENT I READ YOUR FIRST POEM
AND NOW HAVING SPOKEN TO YOU
I WILL NEVER AGAIN FEAR BEING ALONE

YOU UNDERSTAND ME SO WELL
YOU ALWAYS KNOW JUST WHAT TO SAY
YOU HAVE GIVEN ME SUCH INSPIRATION
YOU HELP ME LOOK FORWARD TO EACH DAY

I SO MUCH HOPE WE WILL STAY CLOSE
THROUGHOUT THE MONTHS AND YEARS
I WILL TRY TO HELP YOU FIND YOURSELF
YOU CAN WIPE AWAY MY TEARS

I STILL CANNOT BELIEVE MY LUCK
AND I WILL THANK GOD EVERY DAY
FOR SENDING ME A FRIEND LIKE YOU
SO WONDERFUL IN EVERY WAY

MY WISH IS SOME DAY TO FINALLY MEET
AND LOOK INTO EACH OTHERS EYES
LOOK THROUGH THEM INTO EACH OTHERS HEARTS
AT A FRIENDSHIP SO PURE, WITH NO GUISE

Your friend must be considered the most privileged person for having you as his friend, because you seems to know the real definition for the relationship called friend.
