Come love, lay thee by my side
Upon the softness of the grass
Beneath the glow of faintest stars
And I'll command the hours to pass
So slowly as to make the dawn
To seem a thousand years away
Come love, lay thee by my side
Within my arms 'til morning stay
Come love, lay thee by my side
In darkness now and all alone
And let me feel thy surging heart
That beats in rhythm with my own
The velvet touch of tender hands
The warmth of bare and trembling flesh
Come love, lay thee by my side
And let our souls in silence mesh
Come love, lay thee by my side
Let tongues and bodies there entwine
Allow thy longing lips to taste
The sweetness of desire's wine
With whispered sighs we'll tell our tale
Of passion 'til the breaking light
Come love, lay thee by my side
And join with me as one tonight

*melts* Wow. This is a bit simpler than your other romantic poems, Larry, but it's still powerful and a pleasure to read. Rusted, you say? Not as much as you think. ;)

hmmmmm...well, it sounds kind of abstract as if you aren't writing for anyone real.. but it's pretty. |

Ya know Larry, somethings ... like roller skating or riding a bike ... you just don't forget. I think that romantic poetry, for you, is quite possibly the same. There is an innate ability within you and your words to capture beautiful moments and lay them down for the rest of us to experience. I hope this indicates an upswing of sorts to recent moods or even just a step in that direction. Peace to you sir, may your pen always be full.

I would not use the word "rusty", if anything I sense a hesistation on your part from letting loose completely. I think you'll surprise yourself if you do, for this, this is good work! |

You knowwwwwwwww..... a rather wonderful and wise man recently told me that the merit of a poem has mostly to do with how its words "slip into the heart and soul of the reader". Having reviewed this with that in mind.... I can think of no better word to describe it than.... beautiful.
Rusty? Nah..... I ain't buyin' it. *smiles*

Completely beautiful Larry, as always. Your writes could never rust.
(As they are not made of metal, but of soft dreams and gentle sighs)
I adore the title of this and what follows is breath-taking hun.
(How could we expect less from the man who holds the roses?)
wonderfully heart hugging.

Larry such beautiful words, it's so nice to have the "romantic" you back again.
Now if you can find a fine lady that you can write about.........lucky she..........
I remember all of your beautiful poems of years back...........you haven't lost your wonderful romantic touch.......you still have it very much!
Warm love
