I try to paint a portrait of thee.
Within my mind that I my see.
Upon the canvas the paint I lay.
Each line and curve, each dip and sway.
With stroke of brush, and paint I place.
To find your smile and capture your face.
Carefully I mix to get the hue.
Trying to paint this portrait of you.
Caressing the canvas with my brush.
Your skin like silk, with slighted blush.
Mystical eyes, like gems to view.
Bringing out your beauty true.
With my brush I touch the last.
Your portrait there now is cast.
As I gaze upon you there.
Your beauty shown my lady fair.
I realized I failed to show.
The loving heart that you bestow.
Love cannot be shown with art.
Your gentle ways and loving heart.
Upon my soul your love I’ll write.
And painted there each day and night
