Look at us all
Dying to be beautiful
With our fingers down our throats
Hoping that one day
We'll bring up more than food
Our soul will dribble down the porcelain
With every ounce of bile
Only to be flushed away
And our eyes will hollow out
Like the models we idolize
Gazing off the glossy pages
Of our magazines - Our bibles
Of which the first commandment
Is to purge our sins
Because everyone knows
No one's ugly in heaven

I was drawn only by the fact, that I too, have a poem entitled, "Binge and Purge"
(not posted)
...and written on a more personal level-
. . .
My daughter's coming of age (13)..
and I can only now, see the affects that the media can have on influential young women..
though in the end.. self esteem always persaveres..
this poem should be posted on every billboard, from coast to coast-
Sincerely..
Billy

Thanks for posting this, your words speak volumes of truth about the synthetic society we live in today. My sister is 11 and while she isn't completely taken in by what the media likes to dictate to us, she does think that being thin, physically sexy and caked with make-up equals true beauty. It's a very bad image for kids today to follow. |

Very nice and sad but true. I actulley suffer with this, so unfortunatley I'm all to familiar with the truth inside your words. I love the last line "Because everyone knows noones ugly in heaven".
thanks for this

I love this poem, it's exactly how i feel about models and stuff.
'With our fingers down our throats
Hoping that one day
We'll bring up more than food
Our soul will dribble down the porcelain
With every ounce of bile
Only to be flushed away
And our eyes will hollow out'
incredible writing |
