We Wish We Could Have Made it Back

Years and years of things I remember and things still hazy in my mind. Had we both known this, we probably would have staying together. I would have staying to the right instead of going to the left. It probably would have been so much different….
Had I know it would save both our lives, I would have taken you. I would have stayed with you for the rest of my life, but things like this are felt and never seen.
Where did we go wrong…maybe in-between all the bitterness of life. I think we would have been together forever if we had both just known it was going to be like this.
And your arms make me want to hold onto what I was instead of pulling away, but yet, my heart holds too many secrets to keep you closer than that.
We both hold the same pain. We both wish it would have been different than this. Our lives were set but we broke away from everything. If we had just said the words before acting things would have been so much different.
You stare into me and I look away. My spirit broken deep inside me from long hard battles I never want to fight again. You…just finding your own strength feel so alone on the inside. You’re looking for recognition in me and here I am….nothing.
If we both had known all the unsaid words would come back to haunt us, I think we would have both chosen a different path.
We both wish we could have made it back to somewhere else, instead of here with all these things haunting us.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
