A fire lit,
Nearing me with every breath.
I can feel the heat on my lips.
I know that I will die.
But I breathe deeper.
The air keeps me alive.
The flame edges closer,
It’s stalking me like prey.
But I am brave enough,
To not take notice.
Does the beast know
That I too am stalking it.
One more deep inhale
The fiery beast burns out
In a fevered passion
It has died the way it lived
Hot and fast.
I live to fight another day
And to kill again.

| Isn't the point of posting your poems to get different perspectives on your poems? I don't know what we're supposed to think about this poem but I have never been one for poems so abstract that they leave the reader wondering what drug the author was on. This poem is not that extreme. I enjoyed it marginally. |

I'm trying to figure out if it is a cigarette or if it is a drug. It would make more sense if it was a drug. It's an ok poem but I think it needs to have a little more to it than just this personally.
