Nix Apathy

Contributed by mlcstar on Wednesday, 17th May 2006 @ 01:56:28 AM in AEST
Topic: abstract

Our world is filled with nothing
people who lack the want for something
who take pride in slacking
and ask why their lives are lacking
when all the points they're racking
are in loafing.

we need to get up and get out, raise up,
and shout about that which displeases us
we complain and yet refrain from action
I see no attraction in doing nothing
laziness is the norm
but reform won't just happen
by itself.

don't misunderstand, taking a stand is hard
and sometimes lonely,
'cause you may be the only
one who seems to care
but if you share your passion
you can fashion an army for your cause.

going against the tide's a tough ride
but it builds muscle
and makes you stronger
now you may live longer if you hide
but what kind of life is that.

Sloth is a sin
we must begin
to leave this funk we're in
of living in negative.

our generation is restless
some think we're aimless
but when provoked we can be fearless
so don't just hear this
and leave unchanged.
bordem plagues so many
when there are plenty
of things to do
just get up and find any
of them.

no one made History
by sitting in misery
wishing they could act.
If they can misbehave so can you,
if they can be brave, so can you,
if they can send a shockwave through society, why can't you.
Life's not about apathy
come back to me
when you have something to say.

I concur with the message. Impressive write, however, since this is Spoken Word, it would be much better performed by the author I am sure. Do you do readings? I am sure that would be quite an enjoyable experience.
