Independant Love

Contributed by Lo2681 on Wednesday, 17th May 2006 @ 01:18:17 AM in AEST
Topic: happypoetry

She was ok,
From the outside,
Standing strong and on her own.
She knew that things would go her way,
If only she remains alone.

It seemed as though she awoke one day,
And knew she could get by,
That no matter how many men scorned her,
She had no more tears to cry.

So she opened up her suitcase,
And packed away her life,
She knew the travel would complete her soul,
More than being someone’s wife.

And down the road she went,
Learning to love only herself,
She knew it was the right thing,
Because with this love she needed no one’s help.

And one day within her travel,
This woman met a man,
And even though instinct warned her,
She reluctantly took his hand.

She didn’t feel a need to love him,
Or fear the cards that might be dealt,
She was a woman that was in love,
Because now she loved herself.

Yes being let down can make you bitter, also in my case when my husband died, I was bitter that I was left on my own. Selfishness plays a part, and independance seems the right way. Well my reality now is , I need company but not a relationship. Your words are very good, and also quite true, I enjoyed reading this poem, strikes a chord really. Thank you. Sue x

Lo, one must be able to love thyself before they can love another. This holds true in any relationship. Well, written. Be good and take care.

true love takes two, because true love is selfless... it makes itself nothing to give everything.
