Amazing maze of wonders

I run through the massacre on Chios,
jumped over the repentant Saint,
took a glimpse over dying slave
and ended up at the crashing cold wave.
I was under the table
at Marriage at Cana,
slept with hounds near king’s feet,
wept with Maria by deathbed of the Virgin,
disgusted by flesh in class of a surgeon;
warmed under the Sevillian sun
while contemplating how
young beggar’s fate was lacking fun.
Astronomer saw me coming
as he moved his globe,
blinded by shimmers of gold
on emperor’s new robe.
I took a moment of rest
among lovers on their Cythere quest;
went through agony on Medusa raft,
in a somber room of warm light
watched forger mastering his craft.
Limbs in a twirl, shine of a pearl,
glimpses of cotton wool clouds,
angel’s locks in a high sky,
feisty horse’s on stormy ground;
People dining in name of the Father, Son,
women, wine, mother and child.
Heads were turned by one’s enigmatic smile
but not mine.
I was looking for a glow,
that certain spot of light,
when Sun is setting on
Claude Lorraine’s painting.

Never been to Paris but it sure sounds like you had a busy trip and loved it too.
