Family Values

Topic: EmotionalPoetry

I know I shouldn’t blame you,
For all my insecurities,
Or the fact that I can‘t be happy.
With this dysfunction inside of me.

But at times I sit around and wonder,
If all the turmoil helped blueprint my mistakes,
And if the reason I can’t truly love,
Is because I heard you hate each other every day.

I was just a little tiny girl,
When it started …I recall,
Watching you and daddy argue,
As you stepped over me playing in the hall.

My tiny little hands,
Where clenched over tiny little ears,
As a tiny tear rolled down my cheek,
Your screaming I could hear.

And now after all this time,
I still carry with me all of your games,
Did you ever think how it would affect my life,
No. You were caught up in all your pain.

I’d sit inside my room at times,
Think that I’d just run away,
I don’t think you would have noticed for a while,
But I never did it anyway.

I kept praying to God to keep you together,
So while walking home from school I’d look up and say,
“God please don’t let mommy and daddy fight.”,
“Can I please have some peace today?”

Very sad but well written.
Adults just don't think some times when it comes to children.
Hang tuff.
huggs, prayer,

Lo, this is a very strong write of your emotions. The word HATE is an extremely harsh word especially when an adult uses it. It seems to have a stronger meaning when children hear their parents use it while they are arguing. This was a very sad experience that you had to endure. Take care and be good.

Emotional and intense poem. Glad you didn't run away. Cause life isn't too forgiving out there. And be sure that God hears your prayers. He doesn't always answer as soon or in the way we want Him too. But He will give you the strenghth to endure and carry on.
When I have problems of various sorts, and I have had many, I always ask myself what I can learn from it. There is always a lesson to be learned for whatever reason.
i enjoyed your poem and i wish you peace and happiness.

mothers and fathers need to talk alone, get things straight between them.. never argue or fight in front of children.. and never ever take sides.. or disagree with each other in front of the children.. spouses need to always support each other in love, to show the children love...not to damage their little bodies and minds... hugs, a little kiss each morning in front of the children sets a good example and relaxes them to know they are in safe hands..

thank you for your poem... RL

The insecurities, dysfunction and turmoil recounted in the mind of a helpless but prayerful child in pain could create an impetus and motivation to finding harmonious love with the family values you yearn. Good luck. Please don't give up to the negative. Great write to be shared in the venue of family reconciliations.
