Nature's Wonder

Contributed by Pink-Cherry on Monday, 15th May 2006 @ 11:00:50 PM in AEST
Topic: NaturePoetry

They watched in amazement
And stood along the shore
Where there should have been an ocean
There was no more

Just then on the horizon
The water did appear
And as it crashed towards them
The town was struck with fear

Soon the wave was upon them
It swept across the town
And although they did run quickly
Thousands were to drown

Shoved into the people
Were buildings, cars, and boats
And none but the most fortunate
Kept the water at their throats

So easily were thousands killed
For a force so strong cannot fail
And even above the human race
Nature’s wonder – the tsunami – did prevail

Very good. Good imagery. i think I need to experiment with more forms of poetry too.
That's one thing we can learn from each other here at YPDC. Thanks for the encouragement and inspiration.

Beautifully written, with wonderful imagery. Your rhyming doesn't sound forced, which is a hard feat to accomplish -- but you have done so, and flawlessy too, I might add.

I hope to read more of your poetry,

Riisa Holeva
