Honest Truth

~~

When I took an honest look
Into my heart thought so true
I did'nt recognize the man I saw
I thought " Who in the world are you? "

I did not see the man
I thought I might see
Instead a man of compromise
Vaguely resembling me

Now I fight for the truth
I need no more to decieve
For the man I have become
My heart does believe

Russ

Honest Truth

Take heed what you believe
Measure every principle –every word
Learn to recognize the truth
Separate reasonable from absurd

Learn never to lie
And to yourself especially not
For soon the lies you will believe
Conscience is set at naught

Strive to be fair
Judge only if you must
Be open, honest and true
A person all can trust

Give to others generously
Of heart, hope and grace
Sharing these things freely
Gods love you embrace

Learn to love unselfishly
Never abuse or use it as a tool
Never think you understand it
For then you become a fool

Pray God grants you true humility
So essential to the heart
For the honesty in humility
Will the truths of wisdom impart

Russ

A very inspiring poem. Each word set in its place. A wonderful message behind this poem.
