I never meant to fail you

Topic: ApologyPoetry

The beating of this cursed heart
Never ceases when it should
I’ve tried to do things different
I’ve tried everything I could

Stuck here where none will go
I travel this road alone
Though the years have passed me by
I fear I haven’t grown

The rising of the morning sun
So ends another night
And though I keep telling myself…
I know it won’t be alright

There’s nothing here worth saving
Just turn and walk away
I don’t want you to see me crying
There’s nothing else to say

I never claimed to be perfect
I made my mistakes
I never said I knew how to do it
Even my heart sometimes breaks

I gave it my all I gave it my best
I tried so hard for you
I fell and I faltered failed and gave in
I wasn’t sure what to do

I miss the laughs you used to have
I even miss the tears
The way you cried and got upset
We shared so many years

I know that time moves on
Sometimes futures change
But facing the world without you
Seems just way to strange

Nothings as it was before
The joys been stripped away
There’s no happiness in anything
Can’t even find the words to say

Id apologize a million times
If I thought it’d change a thing
But I know the pain of broken promises
I know that nothing can numb that sting…

Id’ take away the pain you feel
Id offer to swap you hearts…
But mine is just as wounded now
It’s also torn apart...

I’m sorry for this life I made
I only wanted you to have the best
I never meant to fail you too
I never meant to end up like the rest…
