Listen to me and hear what I say
I love you so now I take a stand
do not interrupt or walk away
I see your anger but I understand
I know it is difficult being a teen
believe it or not I was once one
your view of life drives me to intervene
you only write dark poetry or none
feelings of anger with sadness soak through
you miss your father watching from above
maybe that voice you hear guiding you
is him whispering in your ear with love
when I come home and you are not here
I worry because you I cherish so much
too busy with your friends year after year
you leave then do not bother to stay in touch
I am not told when you will return
realize that our time together is of import
I know I am just your mother appearing stern
you think I will always be here for support
it is not wise to take loved ones for granted
a lesson you have already learned
viewing yourself as a failure is slanted
you are your own worst enemy I have discerned
you are a priceless blessing to me and precious link
please take care of the dangers unseen
you are not as invincible as you think
simply because you are seventeen
let us make peace instead of a battleground of strife
look in your heart for the answers are there
then you will be happy knowing the joy of life
that you so richly deserve with those who care.

Deep and intense. Makes me want to change myself. I'm far from perfect and this poem describes me so clearly, I'm stunned. Great write, sometimes you just have to talk. |
