Change of Heart

Easing into another pair of socks
Warm, dry comforting thoughts
Take the chill away
Chewing on memories
Twisted by time
Tainted by the mind’s eye
What passes for reality
Lovers tucked in between the pages
Gentle encouraging words
When you had none for me
But you see it differently
A landscape of forgiveness
Too late now to run
Smiles no longer reach my eyes
What’s done is done
I step into your embrace willingly
Happiness has escaped
Where I could not
I have to wonder
Are you faking it too?
