Shades of Clear Blue

Contributed by Lo2681 on Thursday, 11th May 2006 @ 04:39:54 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

He walks down the halls,
With a glorious disposition,
Fumbling for the right sequence of steps,
And looks in the window at his reflection.

The world is his oyster,
Yet engulfed with these demons,
He's just like anyone else,
But those who walk by him can't see it.

He’s not weak... he’s not mental,
Another common misconception,
He‘s wiser than the average person he passes,
With a soul full of strength his body just a deception.

The world is blue,
And his heart sometimes heavy,
But if you knew him at all,
You would see it is his heart that you envy.
It posses a strength,
Many lack within their existence,
It’s a shade of clear blue,
That exudes a down-to-earth brilliance.

Lo, this is a wonderful dedication to your friend. I hope that you may share it with him to let him know how you felt about him. I tell my own children it is not how a person looks on the outside but how a person is on the inside that counts. Be good and take care.

Really nice poem.

Never judge a book by its cover, right?

It is what's inside that matters.

Right On, Lo! A beautiful piece, by the way.

This poem reminds me so much of some words in an American country/western (cowboy) song popular right now.

"Don't laugh at me, don't call me names.
Don't get your pleasure from my pain.
In God's Eyes we're all the same.
One day we'll all have perfect wings.
Don't laugh at me."

Ya did this wisdom proud in yer work, Lo.

What a lovely tribute to your friend. Yes my best friend was disabled, and she had a hard time at school. I stood up for her until she had the courage herself to stand tall. Inner beauty is a most wonderful thing, and cannot be seen by everyone. Its only the those who see past disability who are enriched with its beauty. Lovely well thought words. Thank you . Sue x

hey there Lo~

This is such a wonderful write. It's sad that some people fail to concentrate on what's inside of a person. A good friend of mine, Tim, has a brother with Down's Syndrome, and let me tell you, this guy is awesome. He has the biggest heart, he's funny, and so full of love. I feel very blessed to know him, just as you are blessed to have a friend like yours. Excellent job on this!

and btw, THANK YOU! for your comments on my writes. They are very much appreciated.

:-)

Clem

Lo*~
A most touching and heartfelt write. People are so quick to judge others by their outer appearance. Sadly it's these people who miss out on experiencing the warmth, joy and happiness that these beautiful souls bring into our lives. Well done and thanks so much for sharing this with us.
*warm hugs*
