A Shadow

Contributed by keilantra on Monday, 8th May 2006 @ 06:24:54 PM in AEST
Topic: abstract

Breaks the daylight, I am alone
Shines the sunlight, cold as a stone.

The silence is hard and
The music is soft
The fire is burning
The rain just won’t stop
I am here,
But only as a shadow.

You seem so vulnerable
But your whispers are so strong
You break others easily
Yet you are the song
That they sing,
But you’re only a shadow.

The stars seem the brightest
Amid noonday light
But the roses bloom most proficiently
During the darkest of nights
People love with a vengeance
And hate with light hearts
They’re all here respectively
To play their own parts
I was there,
But only as a shadow.

Breaks the daylight, but I am gone
I love with the Shade, and run from the Dawn.

"I love with the Shade, and run from the Dawn."

I agree with poeticHybrid, the last line is easily the best, and the imagery is breathtaking. You've created a wispy fairy world of your own with your choice of words...well done.
