Sunrise, sunset, sunrise again,
How quickly time slips through our hands,
Marking days o’er and past,
The living years fly by too fast.
Seasons come and seasons go,
Winds of change, how oft they blow,
Years gone by without a trace,
Wrinkles on aging face.
Death is master of all men,
It comes for us, we know not when,
None can overcome his power,
None can save us in that hour.
Another year gone by, I say,
Looking forward many days,
This time again will come around,
Death steps closer without a sound.
Until deep in the ground I lay,
Until my life fast slips away,
Until that fateful day I die,
It’s just another year gone by.

This is an excellant poem. I think a lot of people would choose to put this in a catagory other than 'Dark' but I think it fits very well, and I'm very glad that you sis. It almost gives the poem further meaning. I really loved the rhyming scheme and every thought that you expressed here. It was lovely.
Bless,
Miss Jane Doe |
