One Lace Ribbon

Contributed by LovingWhispers on Wednesday, 5th February 2003 @ 02:20:00 AM in AEST
Topic: LoveRemembered

Delicate is the hand that holds one ribbon of white lace
Memories of times gone by when he held her in this place
Walking with her through fields,of yellowed grass and wild flowers
A life time of love they had found, in warm daylight hours
All about her are his whispers, they play upon the breeze
Reminding her of softer times when here they loved so free
Before her stands an old oak, where beneath it in the shade
He had sealed with a kiss, the promise that he made
He spoke of neverending love, friendship, staying together
Into her eyes he gazed, as his words were of forever
Remembering this brings sadness, her tears now fall like rain
How could he go away and leave her here in pain
She looks at the white ribbon, and in her mind lost somewhere
She falls upon the memory,of how he used to love her hair
He would runs his fingers through it,as she laid upon his chest
And when it was tied,of all her ribbons,he loved this one the best
Sighing, she walks a little further, towards their trickling stream
Where for hours they'd lie in sunshine, sharing all their dreams
This was his very favourite place,he loved the trickling sound
So this is where he rests now,and where she is often found
Everyday for fourteen years, she comes here and sits for hours
Holding his favourite ribbon and carrying wildflowers
Kneeling down beside his grave, she places the flowers in a vase
And weeps while holding one lace ribbon, to her broken heart
