Reformed Crack Addict

Contributed by rapnificent on Thursday, 4th May 2006 @ 09:42:14 PM in AEST
Topic: drugabuse

It had been ages since she had pulled in the elusively addictive smoke
That got her high so fast
The forbidden high that wouldn't last
People were asking about her
Even found her on the computer
She had been the innocent classmate back in the day
Like her, they had points to prove & long lost messages to convey
They made their curious inquiries
The entire time overstepping their boundaries
And giggling as they continued bringing up issues to make her feel
Like her past was going to mess up her uture & kill
Her chances to maintain friends or a job
You see, it was the gossip that they used to rob
her of a normal life
Where people weren't dissecting her reputation with a knife
She finally acceped that it wasn't their choice
Bu her own, to clarify who she was & use her voice
To elp others overcome their addiction, the stigma, & the shame
Of having forer crack head as a name

Seems to me like someone is taking the right steps to try their best to put a past behind them, and move on with a better life. See, when someone has something that others consider to be something that THEY want, but are too lazy to put forth the effort to attain it, they try to bring that person back down to a level that they know this person once was at. It is extremely hard to fight to stay away from that lower level, because that lower level was so easy to reach. I hope that person who worked so hard to attain a decent reputation does not decide to fall back into a lower level. They deserve much more than that. I enjoyed reading this piece. Good work. Keep it up. Thank you for sharing this. wrdz
