Put on this mask
I laugh easily
What can I say?
Depression?
Make it go away
Self-doubt, imperfection?
Please let it fade
I'm not my only problem
And am well aware
I will not catch a break
So I shall replace my mask
So placid and fake
This world is other than bleak
But, without eyes, how will I see?
Dig into my skin
Internal, external alike; bleed
Forgive me Father, for I have sinned
How else would I be "me"
...placid and fake...
Like the rest, all that I hate
How will I ever be restored
To my prevous state?
I'm too far in, never to be the same
Who will know what lies beneath?
This horrid skin-deep smile?
Please tell me someone can see
I'm just not who I used to be
I'm sorry for this mask
It has left me alof
No one will ever see
This mask refuses to come off

I really, really like this piece of work. And, just so you know, your never in too deep, someone can always reach you. |
