Paradoxy

Contributed by lost_chadow on Thursday, 4th May 2006 @ 03:05:35 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

Water, water, everywhere, and not a drop to drink;
problems, problems, every day, and not a thought to think;
sleeping, sleeping, all the time, and not a thing to dream;
cursing, cursing, all the while, and not aword ot scream.
This is my own paradox,
my personal self-serving laws.
This is my excuse for life
my mind's self-biting jaws.
This is also flighty and fleeting
I won't think this hard for long
and if you want to merit memory,
then just prove me wrong.
Show me that I'm not trapped in myself.
Tell me where my friends went.
Reveal the vastness of my wealth;
show me where I left a dent.
Miracles, miracles, every day, and not a sight to see;
Loving, loving, all the time, and not a kiss to feel;
Real life happening all the while, and not a thing seems real.

very good poem. I liked the first line, a line from "rime of the ancient mariner" i believe? Either way, really great poem, unique rhyme scheme and a deep message to boot, congrats.

I agree with Kevin. This is, indeed, an amazing poem, good for thought. Maybe I'm interpreting the last line wrong but I'm all too farmiliar with the feeling of being in a dream or nightmare doesn't matter it just doesn't feel real and numb. Good job
