The One That Loved Me

Contributed by Lo2681 on Thursday, 4th May 2006 @ 01:33:44 AM in AEST
Topic: LoveRemembered

If everything was so easy neither of us would be here,
Here in this place, where I cant see your face,
But I can hear in the tone of your voice what you’re feeling,
Nothing I do can change it,
Even though I know it kills you,
I can’t lie to myself to achieve your healing.

The jacket with the lace on it, still smells like your cigarettes,
And you were the last thing I remembered last night as I retraced all my regrets.
Your apartment door opened to me, as if I was better off,
And now its just a memory I keep in the back of my head,
Along with the hope that you know, you were not purposely mislead.

You looked at me,
At my hallow eyes,
And you built me up without even knowing.
You became a little part of me,
A little part of a happier history,
You became a tiny part of me,
A part that I didn’t even see.
Until tonight.

The last time the shadows on your bedroom walls made a sound was the night I miss so bad,
The night you just laid next to me and let me cry and laugh again,
And it wasn’t the first time you let me escape,
It was the first time I opened my eyes,
It was the first time I knew what it was to be appreciated,
But it was the last time we stayed up all night.

You looked at me,
At my hallow eyes,
And you built me up without even knowing.
You became a little part of me,
A little part of a happy history,
You became a tiny part of me,
A part that I didn’t even see.
Until tonight.

Where do you run to now?,
You asked me over and over again,
I always thought you would be the one to pick up all the pieces,
You were my only friend.
You wanted to make it better,
You wanted to make me see,
And now as you have told me,
Ill be happy creating my own misery,
And all I have done for you is hurt you ,
All along you were in love with me.

The credits are rolling because our show is over,
And the saddest part is I never wanted it to end,
I’m still wearing the jacket with the lace, that smells like cigarettes,
As I am clinging to the hope that the choice that I made wont bring me to regrets.

This poem could be about me, It reminds me of someone who is so dear to me, who is not ever going to be a part of my life, but in all ways makes my life so good. That sounds a bit abstract, but I think you may understand. Really enjoyed reading it, and it also made me feel quite emotional. Thank you . Sue x

A poem that many people can relate to, myself included! Well done on such an honest and thought provoking write.
