Mismanaged Love

Topic: dedicatedpoems

Recall that time you punched me, then later tied me up
And that time I urinated in your cup
What about when you and your dad tried to tell the hospital in Chicago that I was insane
And the time you put rat poison in my share of our cocaine
Or when you placed Angel Dust in my weed
And you broke into my clarinet case, where there was no bomb, just a reed
It's like yesterday to think about
When you broke in after I so kindly put you out
When you tapped my cell
And I told you to go to Hell
Just after your sister told me to hand her a potted plant and got my finger print
In hopes to set me up and get me sent
Away in shame
It almost ruined my good name
Those were the days when we both taught our children to be tough
And once they went to bed, it was on because we liked it rough
We were like Mr. and Mrs. Smith, on crack
I'd spray you in the face with oven cleaner and you'd kick me to get me back
Every time I got a job, you'd make sure to sabotage
My gig and then I'd wonder what was worse, that or the extortion & voyeuristic espionage
All in all, it was cruel fun
Like the time you did something to my car so that it wouldn't run
Then I retaliated by filling your toothbrush full of grit
You werejust what I needed to bring out my wit
You were real lucky that I didn't snitch about when you and Andy made that money that was counterfeit
Even though you tried to get me to tell about the bank
I smelled your family's alternate scheme because it stank
Inevitably, I had to pack my suitcase
Its in my memory, unfortunately something that I can't erase
When it pops into my mind, I try to look over the past drama in a positive light
And see the humor in it all, since we can't make it right

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
