Africa, my Africa

Africa in me, around me, with me,
unto me a foundation, an origin,
seed of my soul.
Africa of many nations
and colourful tongues.
Africa- wide and vast,
forever bound by eternal blue sky.
Africa, dark Africa,
her past, be blooded
by her children’s suffering through the centuries;
generations of tragic events
haunts her dreams.
But the night only lasts so long.
Africa, my Africa,
she is strong in body and soul.
Africa, she struggles to her feet
amidst feminine, fire and disease.
She stands up and turns her face-
crystal eyes hostage to the horizon,
she sees the sun ushering in the new day,
and in similar fashion announcing the
start of the new way.

I really like the ending ^_^
Whatever people have to suffer from, no matter how hard, things will always be much better afterwards. |

Well now, that was a fine read!
I opened two windows, one with the Afrikaans version, as I always like to read over another language and sort of echo it with the translation. I don't feel it was lost in translation at all - although to the author it always means more than it does to the reader, I think, and I'm sure English does not have the same feel for you. But I much enjoyed it, and heard an echo of another culture. Intriguing!
