No mortal figure guards this gate, a spectre shroud in black.
with burning eyes no emotion shows, but passage always granted.
For those who pay the final price, arrive with nothing left,
but know beyond that dread portal, lies the ultimate answer.
Was life a game? Or was it wasted, in futile piety.
Hope flickers, and with a nod he swings the portal open,
and numb with fear they watch him beckon,
and draw their souls towards.
All are humble.
All are quiet.
And all now burn with hope,
And darkness closes,
with the door,
and outside the Keeper smiles.

Hey, I like it... a chilling twist to a stage that religious thinkers take for granted. |
