Tomorrow's Hope*

Contributed by Aquarius01 on Friday, 28th April 2006 @ 07:48:07 AM in AEST
Topic: InspirationalPoems

It's said that a school is four walls,
With tomorrow inside...
It's up to us as parents and teachers,
To instill in our children much pride.

Children have much more pressure,
From many vices of today...
Vices in which we didn't have to contend...
There's no need to sweep it under the rug,
Or turn a deaf ear, saying it doesn't exist,
Trying to pretend.

That all's right with the world,
Don't be so blind that you can't see.
Children need our love and support,
Or else they'll seek it in the streets.

Keep the doors of communication open.
Listen to what they have to say.
Understanding is the key...
Give them a great big hug and I love you.
To help them start their day.

Take time while there is time,
Helping our children learn to cope.
Let not their hopes and dreams be forgotten.
Or they will be most sorrowfully...
Forgotten Hope.

Loved the opening line about a school being 4 walls with tomorrow inside.
I've never heard that expression before but it really set the tone for the piece, which just got better from there
Thanks for sharing

Steve
