Daylight and Dark

Daylight and Dark

Daylight and dark,
I bear the mark,
a mark of pain,
and a mark of hurt,
concealed by happiness,
and a sly little smirk.

Only I know what I feel,
Only I know whos inside,
Sometimes I, don't even know whos real,
I spend so much time,
trying to hide.

You see the bird in flight,
I see the SHark,
You see the Daylight,
although I, am trapped here in the dark.

Perhaps sometimes you have to show the pain even though it will cause more hurt to do so.
Sorry for all your troubles, but pleased you could write about them

Steve

Thanks guys! I myself, thought maybe I should add to the original poem. However, I decided against this, because this was a poem I wrote when I was very young and naive, and I wanted to portray where I was mentally in 94. I am working on a new poem about the downward spiral I mentioned before. About all of drugs, and addictions, and where I am now, 12 years later. For me, I am hoping this site, can help me express the things, I have held inside for so long. Because even though I am sober now, I am very much still addicted. And I do not want to go back..soo more poetry to come, and please, I love the interaction, it makes me just want to post more..

I understand all about being trapped in the dark. I went through a similar situation when I was younger. It's really hard to understand why these things happen, I always thought why share it with anyone, if I don't even understand this myself how could anyone else?
Nice write.

Daisy, your poem reflects a sense of sorrow and entrapment that plagues so many kids. While the subject is upsetting, I like the way it was written -like a child who is lost in a cruel world. I'm glad you were able to write about it and that you are on the right path now.
Your friend in Savannah,
Butch

What a haunting write...Brilliantly told.
I'm so sorry you had to go through this, I pray that time has brought you healing.

Readin' between the lines of this "young girl's" post, this is a heart wrenching place you came from. Congratulations for the 1994 insight to catch the moment of dark so that you could git t' 'n' see daylight. Welcome!
