Darkened Heart

Topic: DarkPoetry

Eyelids drowning, Memories resurfacing tonight
Black and white flashbacks only bring back the fright
Of an age where innocence was left in the dust
Speaking no words, bitter taste of disgust

Not knowing how to tend a confused emotion,
Or anger that brings upon a strong notion
Of a soul so torn, far from living whole
Less than expected, a life harder to control

Shaky hand writes a letter that you will read
Way to express, lonely girls desperate cry and plead
Paper wrinkled with X’ed words on every line
Shows a struggle of a life she can’t even define

My life in a way I would like to explain….
Began her confession bleeding out all her pain
The tears never seem to want to die on my face
Reflections in the windows are lost without a trace
As I wake everyday I wonder why am I still here
To fight a demon, knowing inside it will never disappear
When stepping forward, dragged two strides back
Proving the self-control that I so long, but lack
You say you understand, have me all figured out
Blank stare only shows, you know nothing about
This paranoia, a chain binded so tight to the skin
Suffocating every good thing that lies within
How can you say you feel what Im going through
When you have yet one clue that Im far overdue
Needing someone to hold me and tell everything will be fine
That one day you will wake up and the pain with resign
I have waited for countless years, My patience has run out
I will take my life on a different path, the opposite route
So thank you once again for all the problems that I face
No longer will you worry, I’ll be in a happier place

Weeds erupt from the dead, lifeless ground
No flowers will be placed on the grave,
Not one cross will be set on the mound
Here lies a girl who only wanted to be healed,
Lived a life of lies, her reality never revealed,
Let this be a lesson for all those who are lost,
Don’t pretend, its not to late, don’t let these two paths be crossed

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
