The Long Road

Contributed by Kellros on Saturday, 22nd April 2006 @ 08:24:48 AM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

The days pass as it gets cold,
the winter comes and the times unfold,
stories writhe in a mind displeased,
tomorrow hides under a blanket discreet.

The sun rises to the east,
calling on another days feast,
a better time, farther away,
undeciphired words of yesterday's plea.

Coins fall to the ground,
money rings a sweet sound,
unimportant to life, needed to survive,
as the rich the poor deprive,
a fools neglectul life despised.

Rain drips to the ground,
where by the sun is found,
evaporated like life's lies,
time passes yet no one minds.

A drop too full,
a soul unreplenished,
problems in alcohol distilled,
self-induced problems "diminished".

The haunt of tomorrow,
the regrets of yesterday,
the laziness of today,
feelings of happiness too far away.

Create to destroy,
built to break,
birth to death,
misery to bliss's decoy.

With every new beginning a new end,
we strive to defend yet we don't protect,
we see past futures yet the present we neglect,
we conquer oceans yet the mistery of ourselves stay a myth,
we find a reason yet we can't find a reason why we exist.

Abide morality as we dismiss decency,
why?

I think you covered a lot in this poem, but once I started reading I couldn’t stop. Well done.
