Running Through My Head

They're the precious little bundles of joy
That I sometimes wish for.
One with her cheeky little smile, curly
Rebellious hair and laughing eyes.
Like me.
Always glowing...always shining their
Adoration and love...
At me.
She captured my heart even before she
Kicked her way into this place.

And the other...small munchkin with
Dark pin straight hair...dancing
Accepting eyes and
Full of warm, welcoming hugs.
A gorgeous porcelain doll.
The face of an angel.

Not a day passes without me wondering
What mischief they're getting up to...or
What new discoveries they've made.
Fascinating to see what an extraordinary imagination little ones have.
Different, Unique, True.
Busy bodies always finding new trouble.
Insightful little dreamers...those two.

I try to imagine my own.
Try.
My brain draws a blank.
All I see is a tall silhuette.
A presence...whose meant to show me the way. He's always there...
In the brink of my thoughts.
Not tangible... yet still present.
Running through my head even
When I try to shut him out. Some day..
by some mystical force
I WILL have a cheeky little
one of my own,
To love and cherish.

And then there'll be three.

Even as i speak
I know with a certainty that my dreams
Are meaningless.
Inappropriate even.

But he's still running through my head.
So i bide my time and love the
Two little ones who are not my own...
Sharpen my instincts,
But why do these instincts...this longing...
even exist!? Why do i want to walk into
The unknown?!!!!!
Isn't it enough merely to love and not have...?
Simpler...?

Images change. I see myself spinning
Around, surrounded by my favourite
little ones.
Trees set against the setting sun.
Noise, squeals, laughter, swings.
My comfort zone. Memories...of
What could have been.
