We’d sell our souls to reach the stars
Those mesmerizing portals into the celestial realm
Where blood is undiluted pixie dust
And smiles are priceless gems
Where wishes on a star do come true…
But don’t waste a wish on a falling star
You might as well make a wish
On that candle on your dresser
Same difference, a burning flame
Soon to be extinguished
And all it leaves behind are broken dreams
And the scent of melted wax
Don’t rely on objects
To make your dreams come true
All you have to do is follow your heart
And you’ll reach the highest high

Lovely poem with a dreamy quality. I enjoyed the way you ended with the same two words as the title. It seems to me there is more than one level of thinking here. |
