TO THE LASS IN RED

Contributed by FRANCO on Thursday, 20th April 2006 @ 09:47:42 AM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

Ho, mountain lass in red, thy longing gaze
beyond the icy peaks, seeking dotingly for thy
darling, he though is shielding thy motherland, by
freezing body to tussle - offering soul to his soil.

Hold’s thy charming face as aspiration, yet accomplishes
his mission with determination, bravely fight’s his foes
with aggression - from dawn till dusk, aspire to hold thee in leisure,
on the land free of foes, while he dance to the music of Blue boys.

Ho, mountain lass in red, fear not, for he shall come
to claim thee, after painting the mountain red,
drenched by thy enemies blood, boldly driving the
venomous foes far beyond the fence.

As a true son of the soil, loves his motherland
as he love’s thee, may be more, for cradling thee.
(FRANCO)

I could not even imagine having a spouse over there, family and friends is hard enough.

I have read a lot of poetry dedications on this site to the soldiers and about patriotism. Most either completely fabricate a wrong definition of patriotism, or come off completely self righteous. Very few are moving, gentle, and tributed without selfish intentions to anyone.

Your poem here is an exception if ever there was one. There is nothing political in this, and not even anything self complimenting. This is a true tribute laced with beautiful word choice and terrific flow. This my friend, is something for soldiers to feel. This is something worth fighting for.

WELL DONE, WELL DONE!
