attentive, that's the word that sticks
in the back of my mind
when I think about your
piercing blue eyes
and playful mouth
you look straight at me
without flinching
I'm not used to that
kind of attention
close inspection
wanting a reaction
attentive, listening to my laugh
as if it were your favorite song
you scare me
make me think I missed something
all these years
without you
all the years ahead without you
attentive, as if this moment is all we'll ever have
