If I were a whipoorwill,
I'd pearch upon your branch.
And to my feather covered skin
Your gold-tipped leaves would blanch.
If I were a daffodil,
I'd take root upon your field
To quench my thirst for passion,
Your water you would yield.
If I were a slithering snake,
I'd wrap myself around your leg.
For the sting of my venom,
Your body would surely beg.
If I were a kiss,
I'd be planted on your lips
To linger there forever
Basking in the bliss.
If I were a lover,
I'd feel you deep inside
Then we'd have a safe place,
Where our souls could collide.
If I were a song,
I'd be your melody.
You would hum me all the day
With joyfulness and glee.
If I were a spider,
I'd weave a web so tall
Sit back and watch intently
As toward it you would crawl.
If I were in your arms,
My heart would beat so fast
That all the bad experiences
Would fade and remain in the past.
