Appleton

Topic: Lifepoems

As a punishment for telling the truth,
I was quickly taken to you.
But no punishment was found there,
Only people who really cared.

I was scared and very shy,
kept my feelings locked inside.
So afraid to love and trust,
to protect myself was a must.

The first and only father I knew,
Bouzek was father to quite a few.
He was kind and gentle as a lamb,
and sometimes called me 'Silent Sam'.

Myrtice was a really great cook,
her food would tempt with just a look.
A friend to tell your secrets to,
she would always be there for you.

Pooh-Pooh was a loving nickname,
we called our houseparent who lived with pain.
She was caring and full of cheer,
sadly missed by those who held her dear.

Many girls I knew quite well,
all had their own sad stories to tell.
Problems at home had driven them away,
they had to find another place to stay.

Appleton helped us through the years,
calmed our fears and dried our tears.
A place for teenage girls it may be,
but it will always be home to me.

Dear Katt, what a wonderful testament to some very loving people. I think you have shined a light of purity on them, mostly unseen and unknown to most, except to some very fortunate and thankful children who will never forget the feeling of being loved by those who have been touched by the hand of God. This is a gem! You should be proud!

Ahhhhhhhhh Katt dear I can see your life was a rescue, and how nice to write such a lovely testimont! I'm 69 now Katt, but I was a battered child for 18 years, and in those days.....there was no one to call for the cure!
I'm so glad you found refuge among those who really cared, and you could love........I always had Him from above, but to this day I wonder what it would have been like to be loved and not hated!
You have so much talent my dear Katt..........and you certainly know how to reach others hearts without any fear!
This was lovely dear........ Keep up the good work!
Warm love
Lovingcritters

I can see why this is special to you. I hope you sent a copy to Bouzek and the others for I know they would be so proud of you and honoured to have received it.
A wonderful tribute!!!

This is very well written.

Full of references to your life that are only personal to you.

That is the beauty of poetry being able to get our feelings down on paper.

J.

First poem, huh? There's two poets that surely write masterfully. The wordmasters, like Spike on this site and a "first timers" whose purity, passion, devotion and thankfulness puts a special into their words that trumps the most masterful wordmaster.

Congratulations! Now get on with writin' more, girl!
