heart Full Of Sorrow

Contributed by onceandagain on Saturday, 15th April 2006 @ 11:08:10 AM in AEST
Topic: anguished

My life has always been full of sorrows.
I don't look forward to my tommorows.
I keep taking whatever life sends,
But I wonder, will this pain ever end?
Everyone I've ever loved, I've lost,
My heart has paid such a very high cost.
I don't know if I can take much more,
But I know a Higher Power is keeping the score.

They say the Lord doesn't give you more than you can handle,
But I wonder if this life of mine isn't just a scandal.
I was ten when my father passed away,
And I prayed to God to give us just one more day.
Five years later, my mother met his same fate,
And my heart was filled with such pain and hate.
I have grown and learned that life goes on,
But the pain of the past comes right along.
I want it to stop, to just go away,
But I believe that it is here to stay.

I was married when I was 22,
But 20 years later, that ended too.
I have 4 children that I love more than life,
But two of them are giving me such strife.
I wish I could turn back the hands of time,
To when I was a young child, and life was fine.
As children, we're in such a hurry to grow up,
But the struggles of the world never give up.

I don't know where my life will go from here,
I may live live one more day, or maybe a year.
The future is not mine to see,
I just want the pain to go away and let me be.

it is in my experience that pain does not go away, but is overcome. I have no children, so i have not even the slightest ideal as to how that problem is solved. As far as losing love...well, to lose love is the cost of love...if there was no loss how would you ever know that you loved? A tricky subject, and one most painful, but it is in the sadnesses and tragedies that we strive to overcome that lies our most promising aspects of humanity- that of hope. WRITE EVERYTHING!
always, abraham

those lines hit me pretty hard. they are very true. i am 19 years old and i am already living on my own supporting myself. sometimes its hard to let God handle things in my life. but i am learning everyday to rely on Him. great write.

wow..this is a very very sad poem but well written..i',m 16 and i also lost my dad when I was 10..I know what you went through ma'am. But..I know..im just 16 and I know sometimes it seems like life just throws bad things at us..but we have to be the bigger person and show all those bad things, that we can handle it..that we can take it..that it wont let us be sad. God is just testing us, and we should let him see that we're a lot stronger. I know it's hard ;cause sometimes we just want to give up. But trust me..the more you go through the stronger it makes you. And the happier you'll be in the end, i know it sounds weird. But in the end you'll think it was all worth it. Because you can do this. Just have a little faith in yourself. And my parents marriage only lasted 10 years, and they had no happiness in those 10 years. So I think your 20 years is a lot better. Though it still mighjt not be enough. If you ever need someone to talk to, I know im just 16( what do i know?? right..)..But I know a lot more than people think. Please e-mail me ma'am...gcolpa@gmail.com, or add me on msn: gcolpa@gmail.com.

I hope , I know you'll get through this:)
Lot's of love,

Georgiana(Gigi)

To learn to keep trying and keep going is a constant challenge, its to easy to give up, but youve got to keep going. I wish you the best your poem expressed emotion really well. Keep writing sometimes it seems to help.
