She wore red.
But it was faded, like the stain left on his sheets.
He wore black.
But it made him pale, like the smoke he blew from his French cigarette.
She put on a smile.
But it was wholesome, like the cotton candy child.
He frowned down on her.
But it had meaning, like she’d never known.
She watched with bright blue eyes.
But she didn’t see past yesterdays mascara.
He blinked through the haze.
But he saw with the clarity of a thousand eyes.
She fell.
But she needn’t have feared.
He caught her.
But held her as tightly as he knew how.

Don't know the story, but it sounds like a one night stand. Not necessarily a bad thing.
Good Write!!!
I like it
