Silent Night (Within My Hands)

Contributed by Silent-No-More on Friday, 14th April 2006 @ 09:26:27 PM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

... and if I must, I must. (I must)
Hold tight this night, my own,
Pressed to my chest, desperately
Suffused in my cologne.

... and if I could, I would. (I would)
Drop words onto the page
But there aren't words enough for this
This, I cannot say.

... and if i can, I'll stand. (I'll stand)
With night within my hands
For even amid speechlessness
It somehow understands.

I really love this. Such a veritable wealth of inspiration while simultaneously being simple, flowing and well, all just really nice. I however must admit I missed the thud. ;-) It seemed more like a gentle cool mist from a water sprinkler....but, yeah, that's just me.

Thanks Snem.

Take care,

Tim

Simply an all around masterful work. You never cease to impress me. This is a much to the point work. The stanza in accordnance with the entire write is powerful. You always capture something worth holding onto with each poem. This being no exception. As always, you have posted something to stand in awe of.

What a splendid piece! So simple, yet it touches upon so much. I can't stop myself from reading it over and over again, for I believe I was in a spot similar to this last evening. Well done Snemmy, can't wait to see what falls out of you next.

Night...

Consumed with only your thoughts (torment)
always seeming to emphasize the loneliness
that pervades those dark moments (eternity)

All is still, save for your screaming heart in this
thundering silence
where the only safe outlet is through a worn pen
of endless illusions (sugar-coated lies)

The friend and the destroyer
The Muse and the demon

Night...

The possibilities rest silently... 'within your hands.'

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Once again, Snemmy... inspiring, and graceful... A pleasure to see you still weaving perfection, dear, ^__^. I understand this piece all too well. May your heart mend, and let the night serenade you to beautiful lands... All my love. *big huggles!* Always,
Your everlasting friend/fan,
~Stephy.
Well, holy wow! You do get into my thoughts sometimes ..
I know this feeling intimately, hun. Gloriously and painfully well!
I both adore and despise the night so mockingly full of silence ......
This one spoke to me on a profound level, snemmy. And I am left ..
to take the silent night with me as I slip out ...
brilliant
Lovely and profound. There is a wonderful calm stillness - and honesty - to this poem, although it cannot hold, describe or contain the state of being that inspired it, because I too have felt this intensity in the echoing rooms of self, and never felt so complete, or so alone, or so limited in my ability to speak its essence.
