In and out and all throughout
the narrow little ways of town,
they dragged Him;
bearded from birth-
and the precious gems of sweat
on his brow glistened like gold-dust
under the fire of noon-day.
Canes flash and thud, dull on straining flesh-
taunts and spits... maledictions;
words sharp with scorn and hate sink
like blazing iron into His tired brain.
Thin, cruel stones on the Hillside
make blood run from stumbling feet,
staining Earth with a crimson Glory.
On they dragged Him..
the Cross's shadow across His back,
up the waiting Hill.. a Lamb to the slaughter.
He gazes forlorn.. out upon the multitude;
sunken in the agony of betrayal.. denied majesty;
a Crown of Thorns riding a tranquil brow.
Fatherless and nailed to a beam of mountain wood..
pain-bright eyes, gazing into the deep
of all that had been and was yet to be,
surveying His world.. His desecrated Garden..
hanging from the Cross upon, some now, ancient Hill;
a bleeding ecstasy.

My word, Billy. Only you could make the crucifixion sound
this amazing. I have never read an array of inspirational
words put forth in such a moving and beautiful fashion.
[If the bible had been written by you . . . it would have been
far easier to read. And more enjoyable]
You've done justice to the story of the Passion. Well
chosen words set in a most perfect mold.
Brilliance.

Wow, Billy this brought feelings of hurt and anger. I cannot believe how we (other humans) have been so cruel. I can not fathom how people can be so violent. Jesus was a very cool brother. Wonderful write. Peace, Laura |

ironic that such a tragic day would be referred to as 'good'...however, you captured this emotive and timeless day greatly...

Billy! this is the most beautiful rendering of the Passion Story I ever came across
You are uniquely blessed with the gift of words for the Greater Glory of God.
Every singe line shakes one's soul and makes it tremble. and evokes the vision of Love in agony.
The indescribable horror of suffering
"a bleeding ecstasy"
Be blessed abundantly for your lines.
Elizabeth
