SHOT DOWN
The sky lined with water vapor scrags,
From nearing metal air is dragged.
Like the fire of Zeus that produce,
Javelins of destruction soon let loose.
As if enraged fire bellows from the ass,
Shades glint from its lethal pass.
They may not be blessed but its like chess,
Success not certain but destruction never less.
Again with readiness trigger pulled with steadiness.
Once again explosions pounce,
Chain of eruptions flattens and trounce.
A spec on the horizon something ejects,
Not a bird or insect but sunglasses that reflect.
For a quick burst had got there first,
Stopping more death in one foul breath.
The descendent curves then swerves,
Its landing hasn’t gone unnoticed peepers observe.
Slanted eyes gladly receive,
Glasses removed now nowhere to weave.

Cool poem, I'm a crew chief on F-16's, you captured the moment nicely. "G" |
