have you ever dared
to ask them why?
to ask if they were aware
that they made you cry?
are you too scared?
or are you just shy?
do you want the truth bared?
or will you deny?
did you think that they cared?
or that they would never lie?
did you think that what yall shared
could just shrivel up and die?
did you think that when they stared
they were looking in your eyes?
did you think it was fair
when they told you bye?
did you think that that one prayer
would bring them back in your life?
did you think that yall were prepared
to overcome all strife?
did you think nothing compared
to the love you felt inside?
do you think that your despair
can be ended with that knife?
