I tell them everyday that their mom loves them

My sons, so resilient, don’t come and ask me, where’s my mom?
But, I tell them everyday that their mom loves them anyway
I tell them that she needs room to grow and be herself
I tell them, that us not being together, is not their fault
That it is nobodies fault
But, deep down, in the depths of my being, I know
I know that it is my fault somehow
Somehow I could have held it all together for them
But, I made the choice for their safety and mine
She will either find The Mother and learn to be a mother
Or, we will move on with our lives but not with our hearts

Being a product of a broken home, this one touched me. Divorce and seperation affects kids more than anyone. I know this from my experiences. I am sorry this happened, but you are right to continue to tell them it is not their fault. You are right in moving on with all exept heart.
