An Encounter

Contributed by Willofree on Tuesday, 11th April 2006 @ 05:16:12 PM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

Shadows reach out like fingers
To gather and darken the sand in their grasp
Yet the sun resists the onslaught of dusk to dark
A figure silhouetted against the brilliance of the sunset
Moving slowly in rhythmic motion toward me
A surge of passion wells up within
In great anticipation, I take it all in
The red ball of fire quiescent on the horizon
Yet to sink slowly into the tranquil sea

A slight breeze stirs
Scents of salt ocean air permeate everywhere
Rippled sand, mosaic patterns drawn
A shaft of color glistens on the water
The feel of soft warm sand beneath my feet
The occasional call of a gull,
Pelicans gliding just above the surf
Your distance now a matter of yards
With the backdrop of sunset and pink clouds behind
It appears as if you enter from another space and time

The surf gently roles in
We embrace and feel engulfed
Completely taken in,
Hands clasped together
We feel in harmony with God's universe
As we watch the final curtain call
And as the last bit of sun drowns in the sea
We feel in total unity with Thee
