An empty cradle swings
To twist a smile
Waiting on vacant wings
For awhile
Forget to come down
She wakes and cries
Flutter to the sound
Of life’s noose like ties
Hold gently and sweet
Eyes closed, loveless
Retribute is defeat
Lies say “rise above this”
Coo, murmur
Just one moment
I couldn’t hurt her
Not for any atonement
She nestles in trust
My arms bear no malice
Return unto dust
And I to my palace
