Hateful Remembrance

Grief

I look deep into the ground
At the casket lying so peacefully
And I wonder if you're hellbound
I look back on everything you did
All the crap I had to see
Just to think, I was only a kid
You never thought about your family
It was all about drinking, wasn't it?
You should have dropped the bottle and left it be
But instead you drank and picked fights
I was miserable and wished my own daddy was there
And I would pray so hard in those sleepless nights
So now you lie here dead
Leaving behind my brother, your 9-year old son
After taking back everything you said
I guess I'll forgive you
For making us cry
Your life is over now, what else could I do?
It won't really make a difference
I'll still have the memories
And I'll keep you in hateful remembrance

I've written a poem similar to this because of my dad's abuse. But he ain't dead yet, so I haven't forgiven him. Good write with powerful emotions. |
